I've been fan of live music since I can remember. When checking out a new band/musician, I'll always grab a live release over a studio one.
In 2000 I took my first digital camera (Sony Maciva) to a music festival to capture Bob Weir and RatDog. I was thrilled, by this rather novice attempt at photographing the musicians on stage. Within a few years, I upgraded the P&S to a Kodak 6490 and was off to Bonnaroo and then music festivals at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park. Then in 2006, I decided to upgrade to my first dSLR and the passion just grew. To come home from a festival or musical concert and see that I was able to capture the energy of the musicians on stage, or even the crowd, is a thrill and an extention of the whole live experience for me now.
